The basic definition
A liquidation pallet is a quantity of merchandise sold as one bulk lot, palletized for freight, rather than sold item by item. The buyer takes the whole pallet at a single price that is far below the combined retail value of the goods.
Where the goods come from
Four sources account for most liquidation inventory: customer returns, overstock that never sold, shelf pulls removed during resets, and closeouts from discontinued lines. Each source produces a different condition profile, and that profile is the single most important thing to understand before buying.
Why prices are so low
The seller is not trying to maximize the value of each item. They are trying to clear space, recover working capital, and avoid the labor of processing goods individually. The discount you receive is compensation for taking on that sorting work and the associated risk.
