How to Evaluate a Liquidation Lot

A checklist for judging any lot on the marketplace before you commit money to it.

The seven checks

1. Condition grade and condition notes. 2. Manifest availability and depth. 3. Unit count versus pallet count — how dense is the lot? 4. Weight, which drives freight. 5. Origin, which drives lane cost. 6. Excluded items, which are often more informative than included items. 7. Sale format and whether pricing is fixed or bid.

Red flags

Guaranteed profit language, resale value promises, condition claims that contradict the grade, and estimated retail values with no manifest behind them. Liquidation Hubs does not permit profit guarantees in listings, and you should be sceptical of them anywhere.

When to ask instead of bid

Any time the listing leaves a material question unanswered, use Request a Quote to ask before the auction closes. A question costs nothing; a misjudged truckload does not.
